The Senate is voting on a new and different version of the bailout bill TOMORROW (Wednesday). Bush has added more stuff to try to get it passed, but at a greater expense to the taxpayer (of course). Not to mention he completely blew this one past the House and onto the Senate. What happened to the democratic process? Remember, why should we pay for the government’s wrong-doing? No matter the “incentives,” there is no reason we should pay good money to save bad money. Here’s a brief summary taken from the AP.
_
In a surprise move to resurrect President Bush’s $700 billion Wall Street rescue plan, Senate leaders slated a vote on the measure for Wednesday — but added a tax cut plan already rejected by the House…
The Senate plan would also raise federal deposit insurance limits to $250,000 from $100,000, as called for by the two presidential nominees only hours earlier…
Other ideas include extending unemployment insurance benefits, typically a Democratic goal, but one that appeals to some Rust Belt Republicans. Another Democratic-backed idea would double the property tax deduction taken by people who do not itemize their taxes. And another calls for more spending on transportation infrastructure projects, which would create more jobs. Budget hawks in both parties might object, however.

If you have no idea what to say, here’s what I said. Feel free to copy and paste.
“Do not steal my money. Do not use me and every other American to cover the government’s mistakes. I DO NOT support the bailout plan, and if you vote for it, I WILL NOT vote for you or donate to your campaigns in the future.”

Amen! Obviously you’re concerned about what’s happening in DC. Please see my blog. It’s urgent that we send a message to the Senate they aren’t going to get off free by rerouting the bailout bill their to avoid retribution in November. There are some tools to help do it.
